Tys in Dublin
Kate and I moved into our new place with Knighter last Friday. We are right near Putney Bridge, awesome location. We are on the top floor (3rd), has wooden floors, all modern furniture, and 2 bathrooms. The place is awesome, would even be acceptable if were living in it in Melbourne. We will put some pics up shortly. Anyway after moving all our stuff from place to place and up 3 flights of stairs we were pretty buggered, but had to go out for Bubba's birthday drinks. Kate and I only stayed for a couple cos we had an early morning approaching.
We were up at 3:20am on Saturday morning to get a cab to Stansted Airport. Met Matt, Zara and Neil and caught our 6:30am flight to Dublin. As soon as we got into the city we had breakfast and then dumped our bags at our hostel. We walked around the city for a bit, stopped at the famous Temple Bar for an early morning pint and then walked to the Guiness Brewery after that. We stayed there for a few hours, finishing with our complimentary pint of Guiness, which was pretty good actually, definitely tasting better every time I have one. At night we had a few pints watching the England Euro qualifier then had some dinner. After that we checked out about 6 pubs, drinking at least a pint in each, my favourite being this real traditional Irish pub, on the 2nd level had a live Irish band who were really good, felt like being on the lower deck of the Titanic! Loved it. The bottom level was more modern music but this place got messy after a while, with all the massive drunk Irishmen looking for trouble, they weren't as friendly as I expected. So we moved on, stepping over a poor guy who had been stabbed and beaten surrounded by ambulances and police cars. We called it a night around 12:30am, it was a long day!
The next day we spent walking around the city, checking out Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Grafton Street and a couple other sights. There wasn't a lot to see in Dublin, fairly small city basically all about drinking, so we did the only thing left to do, have a few more beers. Kate and I left at 7pm for the airport. The flight was delayed, then back in London it took over an hour to collect our baggage meaning we missed the last train to Liverpool St, so we had to get the bus which took 90 mins, by then the Tube had finished, so we had to get a cab, finally got home at 3am! We were exhausted, a big few days, and desperately in need of some sleep.
Got another big night tonight, Tommy Bayford is leaving for good so he's having a send off. After that I might stay off the beers for a few weeks, just having the occasional couple every now and then up until Grand Final week, which will be massive. Scott and Jade are coming over for 4 days so will have another excuse to drink. Kates been uploading some pics every day for me so shortly I'll send around the link so you can check out some of my Summer!
